On the afternoon of June 25, the Da Nang People's Committee and Vingroup signed a memorandum of understanding on promoting green transition and sustainable development. The signing ceremony was attended by Nguyen Dinh Vinh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee; Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the City People's Committee; Ho Ky Minh, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, along with representatives from Vingroup's leadership and relevant city departments.
According to the cooperation agreement, the Da Nang People's Committee and Vingroup will jointly develop a program aimed at sustainable development for the 2025-2030 period. The two parties will cooperate in investing in areas such as green tourism, green transportation, and green lifestyles.
In the transportation sector, Da Nang People's Committee and Vingroup will jointly launch the "Intense Vietnamese Spirit - For a Green Future" campaign, promoting increased use of electric vehicles (including public transport such as electric taxis and buses).
Notably, Vingroup and the city will study the development of an electric bus route between Da Nang and Hue, benefiting both local residents and tourists. The two sides will also explore implementing electric buses within the city.
Simultaneously, Da Nang will facilitate Vingroup's member companies in expanding the deployment of Xanh SM brand electric taxis, contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting transport transition, in line with Da Nang's Decision 1957 on green energy transition and reducing carbon and methane emissions in the transport sector.
The city will also study support for planning and introducing locations for Vingroup to install charging stations, as well as exploring mechanisms to support the development of charging infrastructure throughout the city.
Both parties will cooperate in developing carbon credit projects from Vingroup's electric vehicles and charging stations, completing procedures for registering carbon credit projects on international exchanges, ensuring legality and the ability to transfer carbon credits to Vingroup or international partners when conditions are met.
Additionally, they will jointly study cooperation in developing smart green urban areas and social housing projects in Lang Van and other areas. Vingroup and Da Nang will research mechanisms and policies for developing free trade zones and financial centers.
Furthermore, both sides will consider potential cooperation in technology research and development, participating in investment projects for science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation in Da Nang to support the development of industries such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and high-quality human resource training.
